YGTH and the food

What a blast we had in YGTH.

The delicious Italian food is second to none in YGTH and the Rocket pizza at La Scala has ruined me for any other. The decor is original and adds to the charm of this famous restaurant. We did have to get there a day earlier to do this!
Then there was the Assagini menu – lots of little bites to let you ‘dance your way through the menu’ at That Italian Place. A real wow factor in the eating stakes. Excellent presentation, perfect timing and mouth watering dishes. Thanks to Belinda and her family who run ‘That Italian Place’. Some of us indulged in a little retail therapy in the town and the coffee shops got a work out too! Really good latte.

Oh yes, we were there ostensibly for the Temora Aviation Museum and saw the Boomerang, Meteor and Spitfire be put through their paces. The commentary was excellent and the actual set up at Temora is second to none. The obvious passion that has gone into creating such a display is sensational. The fact that all aircraft are in flying condition is an added attraction and a credit to the maintenance team. The Temora Aero Club also hosted a delicious BBQ lunch for us. A big thanks to Geoff King and his helpers.

Our guest speaker Greg McWilliam a 5th generation member of the family and in the business, McWilliams Wines, offered to show us around the winery and it’s state of the art facilities on Sunday, so we took a picnic to enjoy under the magnificent 40 year old Morton Bay Fig tree. You may not be surprised to hear that we fitted in a spot of wine tasting and a few purchases to work into the Weight and Balance for the trip home.  For the record, McWillliams’ is Australia’s most awarded winery. Also for the record Greg and his brother are also into aviation owning a Bonanza and a R44 helicopter. He now has ‘The Legend of Cessna’ so I’m sure  it’s only a matter of time.

We really did have a sensational weekend with 29 members and friends attending in 12 aeroplanes.

So you won’t miss out on YBAS in September 2013, put Thursday 19th ’til Sunday 21st in your diary. The program  is coming along nicely and promises to keep you entertained at all times.
